Groatie Buckie/Cowrie Creel Drop Earrings
Delicate and beautiful! Sterling silver earrings encapsulating a small Cowrie Shell. The total lenght including the ear wire is 40 mm but as they are all individually made size will vary a little.
In Orkney Cowries are called Grotie Buckies and are said to bring luck to the bearer. It’s a great sport trying to spot these tiny shells on the shoreline and sometimes it can get quite competative who can collect the most.
There are two spieces of Cowries found in Orkney. Northern Cowrie, which has no markings and the slightly larger European Cowrie which has 3 spots on their backs.
Comes in a gift box ready to be presented to that special person!
All online orders also come in a paper gift bag with a polishing cloth, jewellery care instructions and a small organza bag of seashells collected from my local beach.
