Beachcombing Creel Bracelet with Cowrie Shell (Grotie Buckie)

A Sterling Silver bracelet with a real Cowrie shell from a Stronsay beach . It has a handmade toggle clasp. Standard length is 18 cm but can be altered to suit. Please state when purchasing. Hallmarked in Edinburgh.

Perfect gift for that special person that loves sea shells.

In Orkney Cowries are called Grotie Buckies and are said to bring luck to the bearer. It’s a great sport trying to spot these tiny shells on the shoreline and sometimes it can get quite competative who can collect the most.

There are two spieces of Cowries found in Orkney. Northern Cowrie, which has no markings and the slightly larger European Cowrie which has 3 spots on their backs.
