Happy Midsummer!
In Sweden where I was born an old tradition is to gather 7 varieties of flowers at Midsummer nights eve and put them under your pillow. I decided we would pick 7 varieties of shells instead as myself and my youngest went for a Midsummer nights beach walk. Sometimes you need to adapt traditions to suit your surroundings.
Needless to say I didn’t put them under my pillow but added them to my collection of shells I send off with every order. It has become my favorite part of the parcelling up process. I tip out the jar of shells and choose one I think the customer will like.
The summer holidays are nearly here for us in Scotland and I wish you a lovely summer wherever you are!
Marion,
That’s a wonderful tradition that you have adapted for Midsummer! It’s such a treat to find little shells tucked in with your beautiful jewellery, bringing us closer to Stronsay and the sea.
Ahh that is so lovely to hear!
